Yoga Philosophy Weekend with Professor Bill Mahony and Ezgi Fisher
“The Heart of Recogntion.”
Philosophy, Deep Self-Study, Asana and beyond
September 14-15, 2019 Zurich Switzerland
Bill and Ezgi will be teaching this beautiful combination to support the journey of deep self-study through philosophy and various other tools of yoga. Specifically Bill will be covering the “The Heart of Recogntion.” sutras: Pratyabhijna Hrdayam.
Nondual Tantric Yoga philosophy is grounded in several key points. One such understanding is that numerous divine powers inherent in the freedom of divine Consciousness find human expression in the dynamics of our own particular inner states, but that they are obscured and hidden by various limiting and entrapping forces. We move closer to inner freedom to the degree that we attune our awareness to those divine forces within us. Accordingly, nondual Tantra philosophy can inform and inspire our practice of a yoga in which we cultivate that awareness in the context of our own particular lives.
Beginning with the concept of nondualism itself, in four sessions, Bill will guide with us in understanding these aspects of nondual yoga philosophy and lead us in discussing them together. We will focus our conversations on just a few short yet deeply profound set of teachings from a 10th-century text from Kashmir Shaivism, namely, the Pratyabhijña-Hridaya or “Heart of Recognition.”
Woven throught and within these discussions, Ezgi will lead āsana, prānāyama, and meditation in all sessions grounded the nondual yogic perspectives we will will be exploring together.
Session 1: Saturday: 9:30-12:30
Existence as the Unfolding of Divine Consciousness.
Here, we will talk from a nondual perspecctive about the nature of absolute Consciousness and the way Consciousness takes form as our own relative awareness.
Session 2: Saturday: 14:00-17:00
The Individual as Embodied Consciousness.
We will ask: if the freedom of divine nondual Consciousness in some way dwells with me, then why do I sometimes feel so separate from it?
Session 3: Sunday: 9:30-12:30
The Recognition of Divine Consciousness.
Topics in this session will include a Tantric understanding of various functions within absolute Consciousness and ways in which we can cultivate our awakening to the powers of that Consciousness within our own individual awareness.
Session 4: Sunday: 14:00-17:00
The Liberating Result of the Unfolding of Contracted Awareness.
Topics here will include the bliss of awareness (cidānanda), and the liberating immersion into it from a nondual perspective.
